COMMUNITY BASED PEER LED INTERVENTION

Community Based Peer led Intervention (CPI) is a program launched in Raipur to prevent drug use among adolescents.

The objectives of the program are to assess drug use in the community, implement early prevention education, and provide referral and linkage to counseling, treatment, and rehabilitation services.

The target group is vulnerable adolescents and youth in the community.

The activities of the program include outreach activities, identification and training of youth as peer educators, behavioral change communication sessions, individual and group counseling, screening and assessment, referral and linkage, complementary therapies, and follow-up care.

The strategies of the program include creating awareness among the community on the prevention of drug abuse, providing evidence-based early prevention interventions, and educational sessions on the harmful effects of drug use.

The expected outcomes of the program are to train 20-25 youth to be peer educators every quarter, reach out to vulnerable drug users, and equip all drug users and vulnerable adolescents and youth with information on the harmful effects of drug use.
